MY WORLD REFLECTED IN YOUR EYES
We live in a cosmopolitan world that is constantly changing. These changes – in our social structures and human value systems – are leading us to question our worldview day after day again.
The growing imbalance between the global north and south, especially in the economic and social sense, political tensions and the fear of climate catastrophes, raise existential questions that require a constructive approach. We worry about problems, which we usually have to tear apart in strenuous causal chains. We are facing a variety of questions that we can’t even re-ask properly because we are wandering around in the dark.
However, it might be relevant to ask: How can I find life in this constant change that fills me and my expectations? How can I participate in a society raised by unequal, oppressive structures where only a minimal percentage benefits?
Perhaps it is not necessary to find answers to the many global problems once we become aware of our role in world affairs. After we receive our perception of the world, we can begin recognizing other views and ideas with awareness. I believe people with open hearts and reflected ways of thinking can build a future in this cosmopolitan world that benefits everyone.Life in the stream of change does not necessarily mean letting oneself be carried away by it but learning to control it through empathy, communication and self-awareness.
By building bridges, generative listening and learning from each other, we could overcome the divisions created by a system of structural oppression.
You participate in this world because you can make a difference while taking part in society. You participate in this life because there is a reflection of our world, also in your eyes.

In February and March 2020, we had the chance to travel around Sri Lanka for four weeks, immersing ourselves in communities and institutions that granted us entry and confidence.
We aimed to build bridges, volunteer and in equal measure creatively listen to ideas and visions for the future.
Art is a non-verbal language that, as a medium, conditions one’s development and allows for social growth. Art means to understand and practise universally.
In cooperation with our friends Idika, Madu and Isanka, we experienced a journey of learning and a deep understanding of human intercultural encountering.
